In principle, there are three kinds of sections based on
their sectional plane, there are;
·
Cross
section (abbreviated into c.s or x.s) is the section the direction of which is
perpendicular to the horizontal axis of the object. Look at figure 2.4!
·
Longitudinal
Section (abbreviated as l.s.) is the section the direction of which is parallel
to the horizontal of the object.
·
Median
section (abbreviated into met or m) is the section the direction of which is
parallel or perpendicular to the middle part of the object.
1.
Method
to make Cross Section
a.
Take
material that will be made a section, such as a plant organ (root, stem, or
leaft)
b.
Cut
the plant organ into small part.
c.
Prepare
a cork, cut one of its ends into two, then insert the cut of plant organ in the cork slash
d.
Put
the section in object glass which has been dropped with distilled water.
e.
Put
the closure glass of that object by using tweezers.
2.
Method
to make Longitudinal Section
a.
Use
a round pencil
b.
Band
the leaft that will be made a section around the pencil, then make a section
asthin as possible parallel to the surface of the leaft. Make several sections
so you can choose the best.
c.
Put
the closure glass on the object glass by using tweezers.
